Dr Simon Park, Senior Lecturer in Molecular Microbiology, Department of Microbial and Cellular Biology, University of Surrey dropped by for a visit to the studio today.

For the past fifteen years, Simon Park has taught Bacteriology and Molecular Biology, to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Very patiently showing us his methodology, sharing his research and the curious developments with bioluminescent bacteria and kindly sharing his exquisite Karl Zeiss lens microscope and equipment.

In his practice beyond objective scientific research, he works as an artist, and with artists, exploring the microbiological world, and revealing its subtle and usually hidden, narratives.

Some words that picked my brain for the day, concerning the relationship between science and my illustrative techniques, which is mainly linear and heavily influenced by the curiosity with bio films and natural signatures of bacteria.
